Started At 16 With ₹50,000, Now He Owns The Factory | Ayush Mate | Chaos To Clarity Podcast
About this episode
The furniture in most Indian homes was an afterthought, and it shows. Here is how to get it right, from a founder who has built more than ten thousand pieces and started at sixteen with fifty thousand rupees.
Ayush Mate runs Karagiri in Nagpur, an interior design and furniture business with its own factory and its own craftsmen. After his tenth board exams his mother suggested they try an interior design firm. They put in fifty thousand rupees, rented a two thousand square foot room, and he began at sixteen with no experience of the industry at all.
In this episode of Chaos To Clarity he explains why design is not the hard part and execution is, why he refuses to outsource the furniture, what happened the day a full teak set was delivered and none of it would fit through the doors, why he says you should buy the furniture before you build the house, and why the room you copied off the internet looks wrong in your own home.
